Call for Abstracts

Call for Abstracts – 1st Global Surgery Conference: The New Dawn

​

The conference welcomes abstracts related to Global Surgery from academicians, researchers, caregivers, clinicians and doctors working in any medical field, including medical educators, nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists, psychologists, and others. We also welcome experience narratives, case studies and situation reports in any related field. Shortlisted abstracts will be displayed and the top-3 will be selected for oral presentation.

Abstract & Poster Guidelines

  • The presenting author will have to register for the conference for the abstract to be displayed/presented.

  • A maximum of TWO abstracts from one presenting author will be considered to ensure broad participation and exchange of views.

KEY DATES​

  • ​Abstract submission deadline: 15th February 2023

  • e-Poster submission deadline: 5th March 2023

  • The Scientific Committee will review each abstract and e-poster. Top 10 e-posters will be notified to print their posters for display during the conference. During the conference, Top 3 posters will be shortlisted for oral presentation.

 ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

​

  • All abstracts must be submitted in English.

  • A maximum number of words: 300, excluding titles, authors, and affiliations.

  • Graphics will not be accepted.

Font

  • Title: Times New Roman, 12 points, Upper case, Centered text in bold

  • Body: Times New Roman, 11 points; Line spacing: 1, one column of text

Authors

  • The number of co-authors is limited to 15.

  • The affiliation of the co-author should contain the following: unit or section, department, name of the organization, city, and country.

Content

  1. Please, fill out the following sections:

    • Aim: description of the objective/aim of the research

    • Methods: description of the methods used

    • Results: results of the research

    • Conclusion: brief conclusion

Poster Preparation and Submission

Selected abstracts will be informed to submit their posters. 

Posters should be a clear visual presentation of the submitted abstract and should meet the following criteria:

​

  1. Title of the Poster

    • Should be the same as in the submitted abstract.
       

  2. Poster size and format

    • Poster must be in A1 size and submitted in PDF format
       

  3. Lettering

    • Top of the Poster should display, in lettering of 18 Bold (Times New Roman), the following information: Title of your Paper, Name(s) of the Author(s), and Affiliation(s).

    • Kindly use both upper and lower case letters for general content, as all capital text is difficult to read. Using 14 Times New Roman font styles for the poster’s content is recommended.

    • Make sure there is enough contrast between the color of the text and the poster’s background.

    • Text and presentation should be in ENGLISH.

    • Makes sure that the specific sections (such as the background, methods, results, and conclusion) are easy to locate in the poster.

    • Try to keep the text easy to read and concise. The poster should have a clear message, a logical layout, and be easily comprehended.

    • Avoid the use of complete sentences and instead use short text in bullet point format.

    • Avoid using watermarks that may distract the reader.

    • Illustrations are essential for the poster and will attract the most attention. Colorful charts and graphs are the easiest to read. Explanatory illustrations should be used instead of the text whenever possible.

    • Try to utilize the space on your poster as creatively as possible to attract the audience and ensure that the images are easy to understand.

    • All posters will be uploaded to the conference website before the conference date.
