Ahmad Shanwani bin Mohamed Sidek

Dr. Ahmad Shanwani, a leading colorectal surgeon, graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1994 and earned his Master of Surgery in 2001. He founded the Colorectal Surgery Unit in Kelantan and later serves as National Head of Colorectal Surgery Services for Malaysia’s Ministry of Health. His leadership continues to shape the surgical community, as he now holds the role of National Head of Service for General Surgery.
Specializing in proctology, his research on the LIFT procedure is cited in over 388 international publications. Dr. Ahmad Shanwani contributes extensively to clinical guidelines on colorectal cancer as chairman and is recognized as an expert reviewer for prestigious journals. He currently serves as Conjoint Board Member for both the Master of Surgery and Colorectal Subspecialty Training Programs. He is also an influential mentor and a respected speaker at global medical conferences.
