Dharmendra Ganesan
Professor Dharmendra Ganesan is a Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon and Professor at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, with over two decades of distinguished clinical, academic, and research contributions in neurosurgery. He holds multiple prestigious qualifications, including FRCS (Edinburgh, Ireland, England), FRCS (Neurosurgery UK), and FACS (USA).
Trained extensively in Malaysia and the UK, he completed subspecialty fellowships in complex spinal and paediatric neurosurgery at internationally renowned centres including Addenbrooke’s Hospital (Cambridge), Necker Enfant Malades (Paris), and Great Ormond Street Hospital (London). He has since led and contributed to advanced neuro-oncology, spine, and craniofacial surgical services.
Dr. Ganesan has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals such as The Lancet, Journal of Neurosurgery, and Child’s Nervous System, focusing on traumatic brain injury, spinal disorders, paediatric neuro-oncology, and neuroimaging. He has been involved in multiple clinical studies and trials, including a landmark RCT on subdural hematoma management.
He has supervised numerous Master's and PhD candidates, and regularly speaks at national and international conferences.
Dr. Ganesan also serves as a medical expert in medicolegal cases and is actively engaged in neurosurgical training, research ethics, and quality improvement in neurotrauma care.
He is widely respected for his leadership in advancing neurosurgical care in Malaysia and the region, combining surgical excellence with a commitment to research, teaching, and clinical governance.
