Rizal Imran bin Alwi
Dr. Rizal Imran Alwi is a Consultant Trauma and General Surgeon based at Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSAJB) in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
Dr. Alwi received his basic medical degree (MD) from the University of Padjadjaran, Indonesia, in 1997, followed by a Masters of Surgery (MS) from the National University of Malaysia in 2005. He further specialized his expertise through a prestigious Fellowship in Trauma Surgery at Auckland Hospital, New Zealand, in 2010.
Currently, Dr. Alwi holds several roles within the Malaysian Ministry of Health, including Head of Trauma Surgery Service and Chair of the Trauma Surgery Training Committee. He is also an Assessor for the National Peri-operative Mortality Review Board and a Member of the Heads of Surgical Services Committee.
Beyond his institutional roles, Dr. Alwi is a prominent figure in numerous professional societies. He serves as Chairman of the Chapter for Trauma Surgery, Academy of Medicine, College of Surgeons (AMM), and is Chairman of the Trauma Surgery Society of Malaysia (TSSM). His international affiliations include membership with the Australasian Trauma Society (ATS) and the International Society for Surgery (ISS). Dr. Alwi is also an active instructor for the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and a faculty instructor for the Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patients Course (CCRISP), as well as an international faculty member for the Definitive Trauma Care Course (DSTC-IATSIC).
